WHAT IS CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE

What Is The Cause Of Congestive Heart Failure?

Heart Failure is also known as congestive heart failure, it occurs when the heart muscles stop pumping blood in your body. The outcome of this is that fluid piles up in your lungs and the blood backs up, resulting in difficulty in breathing.

According to WHO 240,720 people died from coronary heart disease in Pakistan in 2020. It is the main reason people above the sixty-five age group go to the hospital.

The symptoms of congestive heart failure do not have to include the symptoms of heart failure. They may be mild to severe. The following are the symptoms of congestive heart failure:

Congested lungs:

Fluid debris in the lungs can result in difficulty in breathing while exercising or difficulty breathing at rest or when lying flat in bed.

Fluid and water retention:

The lower amount of blood to your kidneys can cause fluid and water retention, as a result of that, swollen ankles, legs, abdomen (called edema), and weight gain, and because of the symptoms, an increased need to urinate occurs at night. Also, bloating in the stomach may cause a loss of appetite or nausea.

Dizziness, weakness, and fatigue:

Decreased blood flow to your vital organs and muscles makes you feel tired and weak. Less blood flow to the brain causes dizziness or confusion.

Rapid or irregular heartbeats:

The heart beats faster than normal to pump enough blood to the body. This can cause a rapid or irregular heartbeat.

Systolic dysfunction (or systolic heart failure):

This happens when the heart muscle does not contract with force, so there is less oxygen-rich blood pumped throughout the body.

Diastolic dysfunction (or diastolic heart failure):

This happens when the heart muscles contract normally but the ventricles do not settle properly or are stiff, and less blood enters the heart during normal filing.

An echocardiogram called the ejection fraction (EF), is used to measure how well your heart pumps with each beat to help determine if systolic or diastolic dysfunction is present. It is highly suggested to consult a doctor’s prescription.

However, heart failure can also occur if the heart becomes too stiff.

Over time, the heart can no longer keep up with the typical demands placed on it to pump blood to the rest of the body.

While some people with congestive heart failure have difficulty pumping enough blood to support other organs in the body, on the other hand, some people have a tightening or coagulation of the heart muscle which blocks or reduces the blood flow to the heart.
