May 12th is celebrated globally to commemorate the birth of the nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale. Every year we celebrate this day to honour and appreciate the hard-working and dedicated nurses. So this blog of ours is especially dedicated to them to say that we value your service, not just today but every day.
Nurses are frontline health care providers who spend their day and night working for the betterment of others. This field of job requires being selfless despite facing every sort of trouble and hardships, from difficult patients to assisting in surgeries which is not easy for an ordinary person to witness. Still, they manage to keep a smile on their face and continue to work. They work with multidisciplinary teams and have rights that support their position backed by law.
Sometimes they go through really different situations and have to put up with other people’s bad behaviour, and they still stay strong.
Daily Activities
Taking measurements for weight, giving first aid, checking bp, sugar level
Performing physical examination
Maintaining records, checking medical history, drawing blood samples
Supporting patients emotionally
Taking care of handicaps, looking after patients undergoing surgery
Changing the dressings, giving medicines and keeping a check
Providing assistance in operation theatres with Doctors
This is a general list of what they do every day, but the details are much longer.
Troubled Patients
They often go through situations where they face mentally challenged patients who need extra care and treatment. But despite all of that, they still managed to deal with them and care for them.
Serving Humanity
They are assigned to different departments, and their tasks vary accordingly. Even after facing difficulties, they work hard and provide their services to help humanity.
Let’s play our part and try to be a little gentler and friendlier towards these superwomen who work day and night to help us. On this International Nurses Day, thank every health worker you know for their selfless services!
